Seascapes and Strawberries

Seascapes and Strawberries

Less than 48 hours in the bay with my dear friend kiera, discovering ocean-scapes and napping in between the pounding murmur of early 2000 throwbacks and raging electronic, driving on the ridges of gate-kept mansions to solicit the neon below, and the juxtaposition of upset stomachs spilling on concrete and the beautifully kept neighborhoods on santa cruz. A unique weekend to say the least, filling and quenching my own adventurous cup.

One of the most romantic farms lined the sea, Swanton Berry Farms, the first unionized organic farm, specializing in strawberries. Their inspiration for their farm all centers on synergistic ideals of what works best energetically to be socially and environmentally friendly. "The environmentalist who wants to reduce our chemical dependence, the immigrant who wants to save money to build a house in Mexico or send his kids to college in America, the crusader for social justice who wants a fair deal for everyone-they have all found a home here. What seems to have worked best is a combination of people with high 'universal energy,' that is, people who work hard at the series of small tasks at hand, and are able to do so without high attachment to control, personal agendas, or prejudices."

You can see the vibrancy of energy in the produce, real food with intentional harvesting.

Kiera and I had so much fun exploring the grounds of the farm, stopping to check out the blooming cacti and lounge chairs-the perfect set up for a photo.

There isn't one thing that makes me feel at peace like the ocean does. An unexplored world under the blanketing of velvet waves really puts you at perspective. The ocean shows you that it doesn't just exist for pleasure and its harshness shows itself in the manifestation of sheer cliffs and shrubbery that clings to its body for dear life.

I always look to the road to get me out of my funk, and if you can afford to trip several hours down the coast you will undoubtedly feel refreshed. Grateful to be able to create my own life and create my own images that reflect it.
